In the honor of Year of Zayed, the Avenue at Etihad Towers and Etihad Modern Art Gallery present “A Step Back in Time”, a solo exhibition of prominent Chinese artist, Jack Lee. The exhibition, opening on Sunday, will feature works about Sheikh Zayed’s legacies and the nation’s abundance.
Jack Lee, the artist, spent a third of his life here in the UAE. Being inspired by the Emiratis’ dignity and loyalty to their motherland, he started painting about heritage, landscape and moments of Emirati families. “As a Chinese expatriate, I immediately felt that I belong here. It is also a safe country and a haven for job seekers as the career and business opportunities are open to everyone”, said the artist.
Last July 2018, the UAE-China week was inaugurated. It is a week-long dedication to celebrate the cultures of both UAE and China, and is to be held annually. Strengthening the ties between the two countries, a special envoy to China has been appointed to further enhance cooperation in all fields to higher levels and forge overall strategic partnerships.
Being one of the destinations in Abu Dhabi, The Avenue aims to highlight Emirati culture through art. “As Abu Dhabi becomes a cultural hub, we, The Avenue wants to divulge a more personal view of Abu Dhabi lifestyle and experience to our guests and shoppers through the eyes of an artist”, said Nasser Al Nowais, the Chairman of Aswaq Management & Services.
“We are the generation that witnessed the creation of the union, and we’re proud that we have seen the dynamic development and prosperity of the United Arab Emirates since its inception until now. Etihad Modern Art Gallery hopes that arts will continue to play a major role in developing the community, supporting cultural heritage and pass to future generations of the United Arab Emirates.
It’s very important to know who we are and there are so many things, hidden information, for us to see. The works we display show appreciation to the land by those who come and experience the country and its bounty.”, said His Excellency Khalid Sedeeq Al Muttawa, Chairman & Founder of Etihad Modern Art Gallery. The exhibition will be open to the public from 28th of October until 11th of November.
